St Fergus Parents Council

St Fergus Parents Council Historical and Heritage Day.

The Historical and Heritage Day was a lovely day out for all the family at St. Fergus National School, on Saturday 16th June. Despite the weather we managed a virtual tour of the town with a riveting talk from local Historians Tom Donovan and Bernard Stack.  Impressive interviews’ which our 5th and 6th class students carried out with their grandparents were on display in the school hall.  Glin Historical Society sponsored prizes for the children who took part, totalling E150 and they intend to publish some of these interviews later in the year.  1st prize, Amy Adams, 2nd prize Grace Lynch, 3rd prize Susan Lynch, 4th prize Emma Hogan, and Sonya Mangan.  The historical quiz was won by the McDonagh family and the Wolfe family.  A big thanks to Tom Wall for completing the day with such an informative walk and talk around the beautiful gardens at Glin Castle.  Special thanks to all who donated to the E160 raised for the school.  Thanks to our Principle Mrs. Kennelly for hosting the day, to the Parents Council for the refreshments and treats provided, and finally to all the parents and children who braved the weather to support this heritage event.
