GLIN SUMMER FESTIVAL: This years festival is being held on Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 August.  To mark the 1st Anniversary of Glin Heritage Trails, we are running a Poetry and   Art competition. It is open to Children under 12, Children over 12 and adults (over 18). The theme is “The Knight’s Walk”. All entries (either art or poetry) for the competition must be completed and submitted on or before Friday 2 August.  All entries must have: Name and a contact number attached.  Please submit your work to Peg at Glin Library, where it will be exhibited on the run up to the festival.  Winners will be announced on the Saturday evening in the square after Beat on the Street.  Winners of the best entries will be put forward for entry into the Ballyguiltenane Journal and into a booklet being produced by the Glin Historical Society.  Best of luck

GLIN CASTLE AFTERNOON TEA PARTY AND GARDEN TOUR: Tickets are now available for the Glin Afternoon Tea Party and Garden Tour taking place on Sunday the 4 August.  Please contact any member of Glin Development or Brides Boutique.  Last year proved outstanding success and we would advise people to book tickets to avoid disappointment.

TRI-GLIN: A Sprint distance Triathlon will take place in Glin on the 20 July, consisting of a 750m swim, a 20k cycle and a 6k run.  For more information contact Marie Geohegan on 087 2418562 or Joanne Culhane on 087 9716199.

GLIN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION: The on-going summer works are almost complete in the Town Park and we hope to unveil a sculpture piece to commemorate the fishing industry of bygone days commissioned by local artist Pat O Loughlin, during the festival weekend.

BE VIGILANT: due to the most recent damage to a car in the Glin Park car park, we are asking people to be vigilant and not leave any valuables in their cars.

Our AGM, was held last week in Barretts Bar.  Details will follow next week with full list of junior mens and ladies award winners from this weekends night out in Wallaces.

The Junior Mens and Ladies awards night is on in Wallaces Bar this Saturday night from 930, music by Ivan Ryan on the night.

Glin Rovers FC will be offering a yearly season ticket to its lotto in the coming weeks. a Season Ticket will be 85 Euro and all subscribers will be entered in our lotto draw each week for a 12 month period. Our Lotto is the main source of the income for the club and all support is greatly appreciated

QUIZ NIGHT: Quiz in aid of Irish Heart Foundation this Friday night 19 July at Geoghegan’s Bar, Glin at 10pm.  All are welcome.

GLIN HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Glin Historical Society are having an outing to Askeaton on Sunday, July 28.  People are asked to meet at 2pm in the Church car park in Glin and we will travel from there to Askeaton.  A reminder to anyone interested in going to Scattery Island on August 18 to contact Rosemary Daly 087 629 6439.  Both trips are open to members and non-members and all are welcome.
