Hunt Museum features painting of Glin Castle

Glin Castle in the Snow by Walter K. Verling

Desmond Fitzgerald, Knight of Glin was a friend of Verling’s and invited him to capture this magnificent snowy scene in January 2011.

Walter K. Verling was born in 1930 and spent his childhood in Clogheen in Co. Tipperary. He moved to Mallow in Cork to study painting in the Crawford School of Art in Cork and has painted in oils, pastels and watercolours ever since. He is considered Ireland’s finest Plein-Air painter of his generation. Walter now lives in Youghal, Co. Cork and visits Limerick and Connemara to paint and see his family.

Twelve Limerick artists throughout the year – is part of the HuntMuseum’s contribution to Limerick City of Culture 2014. The works on display – one artist each month – is the personal selection of Naomi O’Nolan, the Museum’s Head of Exhibitions.
