GLIN BABY AND TODDLER GROUP: every Thursday morning (during term-time) in Ceol Corbrai Community Hall from 10am-12 noon.  E3 per family and refreshments are provided – Everyone welcome.  We will be closed next week Thursday 6 Feb and will return Thursday 13 Feb.

SANTA IN HIS SLEIGH: in aid of The Friends of St Ita’s Hospice Unit.  The Fund Raising committee would like to thank all those who contributed so generously to our Fund Raising Event.  A very big thank you to all the boys, girls and parents who came to see Santa.  We would also like to express our gratitude to Moroney Engineering Ltd, Glin Grub, Roche’s Mace Shanagolden, Eddie Mulvihill and Culhane & Associates, who sponsored the project.  To all the collectors, as it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this as a very big sincere thank you to all for your time, effort and hard work.  Santa collected E7,300.00 for the Local Hospice unit.

GLIN ROVERS:  Field Development Draw, First Prize, Trip for Two to Old Trafford in March 2014 which will include Flights, Accommodation and Tickets.  Second Prize E100 and Third Prize E75.  The draw will take place on February 22, 2014.  Tickets E5 and can be purchased from Tommy Wallaces shop and from Glin Rovers players.

Anyone is welcome to call in at any time during opening hours.  Opening hours are : Tues & Thurs 11to 2 and 6 to 8. Wed & Friday: 11 to 2 and 3 to 5. The library will be closed on Thursday 30th January.

SHANNON ESTUARY CANCER MEMORIAL RUN: On Sunday the 16 Of March a 5km Fun Run and 4Km Walk will take place in the village of Foynes.  The walk is being organised to remember all those who have lost their lives to Cancer in the Shannon Estuary area.  Following the run refreshments will be available in the community centre in Foynes.  All proceeds from the day will go to the Irish Cancer Society.  If you would like your loved one remembered on the day email

THANK YOU: to Sean Flanagan for donating the Christmas Tree in the Square, to Paddy Reidy for his work over the years getting the tree up and secure, to Colm Ryan, Terry Brady, Conor Henderson and volunteers for helping with the lights on the tree and the street.  The Crib Scent in the Library reminding us of the real meaning of Christmas provided by David O Connor Bray.

KNOCKFIERNA: On Saturday next 1. February Minister for Arts, Culture & Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenehan will visit Knockfierna at 2.30pm.  Mr. Deenehan will launch a guide brochure of Knockfierna which shows famine roads, potato ridges which are still intact since the famine of 1847. All are welcome for this very unique occasion.  The afternoon will be followed by entertainment at the Rambling House.  All are welcome.
