COMMUNITIES ON LINE: West Limerick Resources will run a final Communities on Line course in Newcastle West each Wednesday from February 19 to April 2 (7.30-10pm).  The course will show community groups how to develop their own free website and set up a Facebook page.  This is a hands-on course.  On completion groups will have a fully operational website.  All participants must have a sound basic knowledge of computers and be comfortable in the use of the internet, email and simple applications such as Word.  Limit 2 people per group.  Registration is essential.  Contact Suzanne on 069 79114 or email

DRAMA WORKSHOPS: West Limerick Resources will be offering a series of drama workshops across the West Limerick area this spring.  The short courses will include acting, directing for stage and technical skills.  Courses are free of charge and open to anyone living in the West Limerick area.  To apply for a place please contact Suzanne on 069 79114 or email

SHANNON ESTUARY CANCER MEMORIAL RUN: On Sunday the 16 Of March a 5km Fun Run and 4Km Walk will take place in the village of Foynes.  The walk is being organised to remember all those who have lost their lives to Cancer in the Shannon Estuary area.  Following the run refreshments will be available in the community centre in Foynes.  All proceeds from the day will go to the Irish Cancer Society.  If you would like your loved one remembered on the day email

THREE PEAK CHALLENGE: The Fitzgerald Family, Clonughter are organising a “Three Peak Challenge” for April 2014 – climbing three peaks in Ireland in 24 hours – Carrauntoohil in Kerry, Croagh Patrick in Mayo and Lugnaquilla in Wicklow.  Further details nearer the date.

UK FUEL ALLOWANCE: Glin library 14 February12-2 pm.  Accountant will assist in filling out UK fuel allowance application worth 100  to 300 sterling per annum for ladies over 60 years, men over 65 years who worked/lived in UK or dependencies for a year.  You need national insurance number, proof of date of birth.  Deadline for applications is march.

Notes For The Week.  A reminder that tickets for a first prize trip to see Manchester United take on Aston Villa are still on sale in all local businesses.  First prize includes Flights, Accommodation and Match Tickets.  Second and third place winners receive cash prizes.  Tickets are only E5 and draw takes place on 22 February.

TEA DANCE:  A Fundraising Afternoon Tea Dance for “Sr. Collette’s Mission in Ecuador”. will take place at Mungret G.A.A. Hall on Sunday 16 February.  Music by Nite Waves.  Dancing 3pm. – 6pm.
