“Three Peak Challenge”: In memory of Shane Fitzgerald, Clonoughter, his family and friends are hoping to raise money for a charity that was very close to his heart – Pieta House. As many of you will know Shane died accidentally on the 15th October last. Earlier that year he had kayaked 55km of the Shannon to raise funds for Pieta House. Before he died Shane had made a plan to raise funds again for this charity this year, completing an Irish Three Peak Challenge, basically climbing the 3 highest mountains in Ireland in 24 hours: Croagh Patrick in Mayo, Lughnaguilla in Wicklow and Carrauntoohil in Kerry. In memory of Shane, his family and friends have decided to carry on with the challenge and raise money for this very worthy cause. The challenge will take place on the 26th & 27th April.
