Gllin Defibrillator Group would like to thank those who responded to the recent appeal for volunteers to carry the Defibrillator Mobile. This positive response will ensure the continued success of the service for the Glin town and townlands. A new list is presently being distributed with up to date names and contacts. Thank you again for contributing of your time for this very important and vital service.
The Defibrillator Group are running a training course in the use of the Defibrillator and CPR on Monday and Tuesday, July 7th and 8th from 7.30 – 10pm in Conways. Both nights need to be completed and the cost is E25. The course includes the following: how to assess a collapsed patient, activate the emergency services, perform CPR on an adult, child and infant, recognise the signs of choking and the appropriate techniques to clear the airway, recovery position, operate a defibrillator, recognise signs of a heart attack and how to complete a FAST assessment for a patient suspected of having a stroke. Learning to perform the skills outlined above is an interactive process that requires both knowledge and skill. Fully qualified instructors will facilitate you with the learning process. As a Cardiac First Responder, when you answer a call for help, you can be confident that you have given that person the best possible chance of recovery. You have provided the initial links in the chain of survival. If you are interested in training please contact Anne Horan on 087 9186556 or Marie Fitzgerald on 086 8691821.
Watch this space….Glin Defibrillator Group will be holding a coffee morning to raise funds in the coming weeks. We had a fabulous morning in O’Shaughnessy’s last summer and hopefully we will get some fine weather so we can repeat the experience! Date to be confirmed.
