Training course: The Defibrillator Group are running a training course in the use of the Defibrillator and CPR on Monday and Tuesday, July 7th and 8th from 7.30 – 10pm in Conways. Both nights need to be completed and the cost is E25. The course includes the following: how to assess a collapsed patient, activate the emergency services, perform CPR on an adult, child and infant, recognise the signs of choking and the appropriate techniques to clear the airway, recovery position, operate a defibrillator, recognise signs of a heart attack and how to complete a FAST assessment for a patient suspected of having a stroke. Learning to perform the skills outlined above is an interactive process that requires both knowledge and skill. Fully qualified instructors will facilitate you with the learning process. As a Cardiac First Responder, when you answer a call for help, you can be confident that you have given that person the best possible chance of recovery. You have provided the initial links in the chain of survival. If you are interested in training please contact Anne Horan on 087 9186556 or Marie Fitzgerald on 086 8691821.
