Glin Development Association: are holding a meeting in Conways next Thursday evening the 19th June at 8.30 p.m.

Leo’s Shop: now open, Main St., Glin.  Great variety of new and nearly new clothes, toys, books, jewellery etc.  Also, new handmade christening robes and patchwork quilts.  Lots of pottery and china, including Louis Mulcahy, Michael Kennedy, Jack O Patsy, Colm de Rís and much more!  Come for a browse!

Irish Cancer Society: Thank you for your continued support of the Irish Cancer Society and for permitting our recent annual church gate collection.  We are delighted to advise that €1,044 will go towards making a difference in the lives of people affected by cancer as a result of the collection.  Our heartfelt thanks to all who contributed for their generosity.  These proceeds will help advance our range of free patient care and support programmes, prevention and education initiatives and fund research to help find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

Annual Charity Swim: The weekend kicks off with a Pub Quiz in Geoghegan’s on Friday 18th July at 9.30 p.m.  All teams welcome.  The Charity Swim will be held on Sunday 20th July starting 12 noon.  There will also be music in Geohegan’s on the Sunday evening.  All funds are in Aid of West Limerick Children’s Services.  Your support is much appreciated.Glin Baby & Toddler Group this Thursday in Coel Corbrai Community Hall from 10am til 12 noon. €3 per family. Refreshments provided for children and adults. Glin Festival will take place this year on Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August 2014. On Friday evening there will be Kids Entertainment, Saturday morning a Teddy Bears Picnic, followed by a 6km Festival Fun Run, an evening of entertainment with SHORTTS LIVE PIG RACING and on Sunday a Family Fun Day in the GAA field. Coffee Morning: Glin Defibrillator Group will be hosting a coffee morning on Sunday July 6th at O’Shaughnessy’s Ivy House after mass.  Please join us for a coffee, cake and a chat.

TRAINING COURSE: The Defibrillator Group are running a training course in the use of the Defibrillator and CPR on Monday and Tuesday, July 7th and 8th from 7.30 – 10pm in Conways.  Both nights need to be completed and the cost is E25.  The course includes the following: how to assess a collapsed patient, activate the emergency services, perform CPR on an adult, child and infant, recognise the signs of choking and the appropriate techniques to clear the airway, recovery position, operate a defibrillator, recognise signs of a heart attack and how to complete a FAST assessment for a patient suspected of having a stroke. Learning to perform the skills outlined above is an interactive process that requires both knowledge and skill. Fully qualified instructors will facilitate you with the learning process. As a Cardiac First Responder, when you answer a call for help, you can be confident that you have given that person the best possible chance of recovery.  You have provided the initial links in the chain of survival.   If you are interested in training please contact Anne Horan on 087 9186556 or Marie Fitzgerald on 086 8691821.
