Glin GAA: Congratulations to our Glin Junior Football team who were crowned Limerick County Champions 2014 last weekend in Ballyagran. Played in atrocious weather conditions, our boys gave a truly memorable display of Gaelic football and were worthy winners against a gallant Kilteely-Dromkeen side. Glin’s last county title at Junior level was thirty years ago in 1984 and considering the long wait endured by players and supporters alike, it certainly made this victory all the sweeter. Management and players deserve great credit and hopefully they can build on this great victory and bring the barren years of Gaelic football in Glin to an end. A great bastion of Gaelic Football, this historic victory remind us of the great Glin Gaels that have donned the black and white over the last century, including the great Con Fitzgerald of Clonoughter, who captained Limerick to their second and last football All-Ireland in 1898 and the team of the 1920s and 30s who captured seven county senior football titles, a record that has never been surpassed.  Glin now qualify to play Inane Rovers of Tipperary in the Munster Junior Football quarter-final on Sunday next in Newcastle West at 2.00p.m. If our heroes can produce the same level of commitment and skill as they showed in the county final and if the famous army of Glin supporters continue to cheer them on, who knows where this journey might end!!
