Diocesan Synod: The official launch of the Diocesan Synod takes place on December 7th at the 12 noon Mass in St. John’s Cathedral celebrated by Bishop Brendan Leahy. This is a significant diocesan event. All the delegates have been invited to the Mass but Bishop Brendan would also like it to be known that anyone from the diocese who would like to come is most welcome. Bishop Brendan asks for prayers as we launch the Synod.

Christmas Craft Fair: in Ceol Corbrai Community Hall, Glin on next Saturday 6th December 2014, same day as Old Fair: 11.00a.m.  Contact John Healy 087 1237950.  Stalls fee €15.

Glin Day Care Centre: The Christmas Parties for Glin Day Care Centre are now fully booked.  We apologise that we cannot take any more names, only those who have booked their place already will be able to attend.  Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate anyone that turns up on the day due to full capacity.

Thank You: The residents of Cloverfield would like to thank Councillor John Sheahan for getting the lane-way leading from Cloverfield to the shops and Church re-surfaced recently – a job well done!  The residents can now walk safely.

Children’s Christmas Eve Mass: will take place at 6.00 p.m. on the 24th Dec.  Parents are invited to come with their children for the 1st planning and rehearsal in preparation for the Mass, on Sunday 30th November after 11 am Mass.

Distribution of Parish Envelopes: The 2015 boxes of parish envelopes are now ready for distribution.  Those who normally distribute them are asked to contact Fr. Crawford to collect same – your help with this is greatly appreciated.  Any new volunteers are very welcome.

Glin Library Exhibition: It is always great to see the work of local artists and to admire their talent. Now, in the library, are some paintings which the local group have done in recent times. These talented people meet in Cloverfield weekly and draw inspiration and support from each other. The paintings will remain on exhibition until Christmas. Some are for sale also. It might be the answer to your Christmas shopping dilemma.  The library is open Tuesday and Thursday from 11 to 2 and 6 to 8. It is open Wednesday and Friday from 11 to 2 and 3 to 5. There is a welcome for all, especially those who may never have visited yet. Everybody loves the peace and quiet to be found therein.

School Calendar: The St. Fergus’ National School Calendar is now available to buy at a cost of €10.  Your support as always is greatly appreciated.

Glin GAA: Congratulations to our Junior A footballers who played Kill, Co. Waterford in the Munster semi-final last Sunday.  The score line read: Glin 1-8 to Kill 0-8.  They now play Brosna in the Munster Final next Sunday, the 7th December in Mallow.  What a great honour for Glin!

St. Fergus’ National School Church Gate Collection: thank you to all who contributed so generously to our collection last weekend.

ICA Annual Senior Citizens Party: I.C.A. will host their annual Senior Citizens Party at Cloverfield Centre on Sunday starting with Mass at 1.00 p.m.

ICA Whist Drive: every Tuesday night at 8.30 p.m. at Cloverfield.  All welcome!

Christmas Church Concert 2014 – The Three Tenors: Glin Development Association are delighted to announce that Ireland’s greatest voices, The Irish Tenors will perform in Glin Church on Tues 23rd of Dec. at 8.00p.m. Making their first appearance in Glin, this trio have performed concerts all over the world and with their “superb voices and friendly approach” these world class tenors will treat you to an evening of diverse songs from Sinatra, Simon and Garfunkel, Andrea Bocelli, Leonard Cohan, Pavarotti and traditional Irish airs. St. Fergus’ N.S Parents Association are delighted to announce that Santa Claus and his helpers are coming to Ceol Corbrai Community Hall on Saturday 6th December from 11am to 1pm.  (This is the same weekend as Glin Old Fair Day) The cost to see Santa is €5 for 1 child or €10 for a family. Price includes a photograph & chocolate Santa.  Photographs will be distributed through the school. All monies raised from this event will go to the Parents Association who fund raise for the school.  We look forward to seeing you.

Dumping at Glin Pier: Recently a large quantity of poisonous asbestos was dumped at the wall by Glin Pier.  Anyone with any information please contact Limerick County Council or a member of Glin Development.

Ceol Corbrai Classes: Tuesday at 7.00 p.m. Irish Dancing Classes with Bobby and Mary Kelly.  Wednesday at 6.30 p.m. Taekwondo with Sara Dillon.  Wednesday at 6.00 p.m. Irish Music Classes with Willie Larkin (please note the change in the day). Thursdays at 10 a.m. to 12 noon Toddlers Playgroup.

Health & Fitness: Classes take place on Mondays from 8.00 to 9.00 p.m. in Ceol Corbrai Community Hall.  Price €8 pay as you go or €25 for 4 consecutive sessions.  Personal training €30 per hour or €100 for 4 sessions.  If interested, please call Colm on 0851111617.
