U21 A County Semi-Final
Shannon Gaels 0-11
In Clarina last Saturday, the Glin-Gerald Griffins combination were impressive, defeating Pallasgreen by a margin of four points. The Gaels dominated possession during the first half period with scores from Kevin Moore (2), Tommy Griffin, Martin McSweeney and two pointed frees by wing forward, James Wallace. Pallasgreen kicked two points during that period leaving our boys 4 points up at half time. In the second half we continued where we left off, with further points from Moore, McSweeney, Wallace and Jamie Long. However, to the immense credit of our opponents, they came right back into it during the middle of the second half, chipping away at our lead and reducing the deficit to just 3 points with minutes remaining. Crucially, Martin Mc popped up in the latter stage to kick the insurance point. The crowd cheered loudly as referee, Richie Moloney, brought proceedings to a finish, with Shannon Gaels advancing to their second successive county final. It is fixed for Clarina this Saturday at 2pm. All support is greatly appreciated.
