Gerald Griffins 0-12
Our second meeting with neighbours Gerald Griffins inside 7 days turned out to be another tight affair. It also marked the first time a Glin team played a match on an artificial surface in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale. Mark Culhane, Shane Culhane and James Wallace got some good first half scores on the board for us but Gerald Griffins replied with points of their own meaning that we only led by a single point at half time. Our opponents really put it up to us after the break, making the most of their primary possession in midfield to create scoring chances. As the clock ticked down, substitute Fionn Geoghegan marked his senior debut with a curling point, his first touch of the game. Shane, Mark and Pádraig Scanlon knocked over further points which gave us a four point margin of victory in the end. It was a decent performance by our lads considering it is early yet in the season but there will be many more challenges ahead with the first round of the championship against Athea only 5 weeks away.
Team: M. Stack, H. Dunne, K. Sweeney, T. Scanlon, P. Fitzgerald, B. O’Donovan, S. Shine, P. Costello, P. Sheahan, P. Scanlon, D. Sheahan, A. Mulvihill, S. Culhane, M. Culhane, James Wallace. Subs: F. Geoghegan for J. Wallace, K. Scanlon for H. Dunne, P. Horan for A. Mulvihill, S. Lyons, M. Sheehy.
