COFFEE MORNING: Glin Defibrillator Group will be hosting a coffee morning on Sunday 12th July after Mass in Conways. We are looking forward to a lovely morning for a coffee and a chat and your support will be greatly appreciated. Funds raised will go towards the purchase of batteries and shock pads for the defibrillators.

TRAINING COURSE: The Defibrillator Group are running a training course in the use of the Defibrillator and CPR on Monday 13th and Monday 20th July from 7.30 – 10pm in Conways. Both nights need to be completed and the cost is E25. The course includes the following: how to assess a collapsed patient, activate the emergency services, perform CPR on an adult, child and infant, recognise the signs of choking and the appropriate techniques to clear the airway, recovery position, operate a defibrillator, recognise signs of a heart attack and how to complete a FAST assessment for a patient suspected of having a stroke. Learning to perform the skills outlined above is an interactive process that requires both knowledge and skill. Fully qualified instructors will facilitate you with the learning process. As a Cardiac First Responder, when you answer a call for help, you can be confident that you have given that person the best possible chance of recovery. You have provided the initial links in the chain of survival.

We are encouraging local clubs and businesses to have key members trained up in CPR and use of defibrillator. These skills are invaluable in any emergency.
