National Collection: Due to the particularly grave situation facing the Ukrainian people, the Holy Father has wished to draw the attention of the Faithful to the tragic consequences of the ongoing conflict, overlooked by many.  For this reason there is going to be a special collection in all Catholic parishes in Europe to provide humanitarian assistance to people in Ukraine.  The collection in Ireland will take place on the weekend of the 28th/29th May.  The proceeds of this collection will be joined to a substantial offering to be made by His Holiness as a sign of his own participation in this collection.  These funds will be used for the benefit of those living in conflict zones and those displaced within the country.

Glin Tidy Towns.  A big thank you to all who turned up on Good Friday for the Team Limerick clean-up. A huge amount of litter was collected around the town and environs. It is disappointing therefore to see that even more household rubbish has been dumped locally, after all the hard work of volunteers using their valuable time to go out litter picking. The good news is that we now have a lot of people on the Tidy Towns volunteer list, and we are hoping to get lots more!  It would be great to see our younger generation getting involved in keeping Glin litter-free.  Glin is enjoyed by all generations, it’s ours to respect and cherish.  Please report any sightings of rubbish/household dumping to the Department of the Environment and please let the Tidy Towns committee know.  If you would like to have your name added to the volunteer list, please contact Marie Geoghegan, Marie Fitzgerald or Eoghan Ryan.  Check out Glin Tidy Towns new FB page, and

Glin Tidy Towns  ‘Coastal Clean’: Glin’s ‘Coastal Clean’ is an initiative scheduled for Saturday 14th May. This is an annual event to clear our coastline of debris and litter. This year it is sponsored by Coca Cola.  This will take in the Glin shore line from Long Rock  to the end of the path on the Tarbert Road. All Tidy Town volunteers who are available, please come to the meeting point in the Town Park at 11 am. If there are a surplus of volunteers, we could do a litter pick of black-spot areas around Glin. Bags and gloves will be provided. Looking forward to a good turnout on the day. All are welcome, especially the younger generation.  Please pass the word around.  Together, we can protect our beaches, seas and marine life. Check out,  Glin Tidy Towns Facebook page and for more details.

If you would like your name included, please contact Anne Horan on 087 9186556 or Marie Fitzgerald on 086 8691821.  We would appeal to the local sports clubs to have members trained in this very important life-saving skill. We currently have 9 Defibrillators based around Glin and its townlands.
