Glin Library is happy to accommodate “Tunes and Words” with Gabriel Fitzmaurice to start off the Fleadh Ceoil Luimnigh on Monday 30th May at 7.30 pm. This is a night for children of all ages and of course their parents. All welcome.  The library will be closed on Thursday 26th May for training purposes.

National Collection: Due to the particularly grave situation facing the Ukrainian people, the Holy Father has wished to draw the attention of the Faithful to the tragic consequences of the ongoing conflict, overlooked by many.  For this reason there is going to be a special collection in all Catholic parishes in Europe to provide humanitarian assistance to people in Ukraine.  The collection in Ireland will take place this weekend of the 28th/29th May.  The proceeds of this collection will be joined to a substantial offering to be made by His Holiness as a sign of his own participation in this collection.  These funds will be used for the benefit of those living in conflict zones and those displaced within the country.

Glin Tidy Towns/ Responsible Dog Ownership: There has been concern raised about the amount of dog fouling on the path out the Tarbert Road. A lot of people walk this path daily and have to pick their steps as they go.  If you take a dog walking on this path, please take a bag with you and pick up after them if they foul.  Dog fouling is a health risk, especially to children, it can cause stomach upsets, sore throats, asthma and blindness.  Doggie bags are cheap and widely available.  Peg the Librarian also keeps a supply available for dog owners free of charge.
Glin Tidy Towns/ weekly clean /Volunteer Call-up: Every Saturday morning 10am – 12, Wednesday from 7 – 8 pm for the summer months.   If you are free on any of these times, please come along to the meeting point at the Courthouse. You can tackle your own area or help to weed the town streets and there are always areas to be litter picked.  Glin has been entered into the Super Valu Tidy Towns competition, and the judges can come unannounced at any time!!  It’s a good excuse to get out in the fresh air and hopefully the weather will be kind.  Bags, vis vests and gloves will be available. Together we can make a difference.   It would be great to see young people getting involved, as it builds a good community spirit for the future. It also instils a pride of place and heightens awareness and promotes personal responsibility for litter.  Please be vigilant of anyone dumping rubbish and please report any sightings of rubbish dumping to the Dept of the Environment or any member of Glin Tidy Towns.

Keep up to date with Glin Tidy Towns on our FB page and on Glin.info.

Glin Rovers: Best of Luck to Glin Rovers who play Rathkeale in the final of the Desmond Cup on Friday night next the 3rd June.

PRAYER:

Lord God, you draw and welcome us, emptied of pride and hungry for grace, to this your kingdom feast. Nowhere can we find the food for which our souls cry out but here, Lord at your table.  Invigorate and nourish us, good Lord that in and through this Bread and Wine your love may meet us and your life complete us in the power and glory of your kingdom. Amen
