Junior B

Our Junior B team were defeated by Rathkeale in Askeaton last Sunday evening in the quarter final of the West Junior B Championship. Though missing a number of players through injury and holidays, the team battled hard throughout and it was great to see the younger players adapted so quickly to rough and tumble of Junior B football. Scorers for Glin were Paul Culhane, Micheál Sheehy and Eoin Woulfe. In a year that began with doubts over our ability to field a Junior B side, our second team  gave us many great performances and victories, reaching the knockout stages of both the league and championship. Our last minute victory over St. Kieran’s in the previous playoff was a particular highlight. Among the many positives we can take from the year was the blooding of so many new younger faces into the side, which we hope will propel Glin forward in the future. Great credit is due to club men James O’Donovan and Michael Sweeney who put so much time and effort into managing and organising the team.

Team: M. Stack, E. Mulvihill, J. Fitzgerald, E. Flanagan, R. Culhane, K. Scanlon, B. Flanagan, B. Mulroe (c), F. Fitzgerald, T. Wallace, P. Culhane, S. Horan, M. Sheehy, E. Woulfe, J. McSweeney. Subs used: P. Cregan, G. Riordan.
