Glin Tidy Towns celebrating National Biodiversity week – May 19th – 28th.

Lovely job done on road verges in Killaney Glin. Road verge strimmed in a foot or two and plenty of flora and fauna left for wildlife. This is done in a very sympathetic manner and looks lovely. Not a sign of Roundup thank God!  Well done.

Look out for the ditch in the park and on the road to the pier which are being left au natural!  There is a diverse range of wild flora and fauna growing with abundance all around us and we must protect it.   A great pastime and education for children to take a closer look and identify the different species of plants and spot bees and butterflies who feed on the flora and fauna.  Look out for Ribworth Plantain, dandelion, lords and ladies, buttercup, cow parsley, groundsel, birds foot – Trefoil,  red clover, white clover, gorse, periwinkle, cornsalad, cuckoo flower, ferns and many many more.  Our hedgerows are alive with vibrancy and growth at this time.
