Annual Diocesan Collection for the Limerick Social Service Centre: will be held on the weekend of the 20th and 21st January 2018. The centre provides the following services: Counselling & Psychotherapy for adults and adolescents; Early Years’ Service with crèche and preschool; Child and Family Service which includes Parents/Teen Mother Support programme. Family Advocacy Service, Family Welfare Conference service, Community Mothers programme, Family Support initiatives in City Centre Southill and Weston areas of Limerick City; Older Persons Service in Limerick City. The 2017 collection throughout the Diocese realised €19,516.92 towards the day-to-day running costs of the Centre. Thanking you for your on-going interest and support, which enables us to continue to respond in creative ways to emerging needs.

Knights Walk: The entrance to the Knights Walk at St Pauls, is currently undergoing an upgrade and new interpretative signs are going in. The funds used for the upgrade of the Knights Walk are fully sourced by Glin Development. The funds are sourced from various local fund raising initiatives and some from recreational grants through government funding. It is a fabulous amenity which was given to Glin on a lease from the late Knight of Glin. It brings lots of visitors to the area and is good for body and mind.
Cois Sionna Credit Union Glin Office: IMPORTANT NOTICE: From 12noon on Friday 2nd February 2018 to Friday 16th February inclusive, the Glin Branch of Cois Sionna Credit Union Ltd., will be closed for business due to the refurbishment of the office. To facilitate members the Tarbert branch will be open as follows: Monday to Thursday from 9.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. & 2.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon & 5.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. (from Monday 5th February to Friday 16th February only). Members can use the main Askeaton office or any of the branch offices to transact their business during this time. The Glin Office will re-open as usual for business on Monday 19th February 2018. Apologies for any inconvenience caused during this time.
Tarbert Comprehensive School: Many thanks to those who contributed so generously to the Concern church gate collections which were held on the 16th/17th December. The amount raised in Glin was €540. Thanks also to all those who helped with the collections.
Dumping of Illegal Rubbish: cans of paint (almost full) where dumped onto the shore in Glin by the lay-by opposite Sean Hogans house on the N69. The cans were not there at 8am, if anybody saw anything between 8.30am and 11am on Sunday, January 14 please contact a member of Glin Tidy Towns.
Glin Baby & Toddler Group: is now back in action on a Thursday morning from 10am. €3 per family and refreshments are provided for both parents and child.
Glin Post Office: Reminder that all utility bills, speeding tickets, dog and gun licenses can be paid at Glin post office.
Glin GAA AGM: The annual AGM took place in the clubhouse last Friday night with a good turnout in attendance. The following officers were re-elected- Chairperson: James O’Donovan, Treasurer: Nollaig Hogan, Vice-Chairperson/Treasurer: Jack Dunne, Secretary and Registrar: Alan O’Donovan, Vice-Secretary: Ger Lyons, PRO: Kieran Scanlon, Club Development Officer: Seán Lyons, West and County Board Delegates: Joe McGrath, Johnny Lyons and Jack Dunne, Club Children’s Officer: Dave Fitzgerald. Training will recommence in the upcoming weeks and new players are very welcome to join. Membership for the 2018 season will be collected over the next few weeks.
West Board All Stars: Following on from our West championship wins this year, congratulations to Shannon Gaels’ Brendan Stack and Karl O’Sullivan who won West Limerick U21 A and Minor All-star awards respectively at the West Board Awards recently.
Meditation & Mindfulness: Eight week courses delivered by a qualified Gestalt psychotherapist and experienced group facilitator who has been using mindfulness techniques for over 35 years. Learn how to slow down and enter the silence of a relaxed mind using breath work, awareness-raising exercises, gentle physical exercises and the power of sound. Glin Library: All libraries are doing a promotion on Health books at the moment and Glin is no exception. Come in to browse. Art from the local artists is also on display.

Irish Dance Classes with Johnny: have resumed. Monday: Tarbert at 7pm, Tuesday: Glin beginners at 4pm-4.45pm all others at 4.45pm-6pm, Wednesday: Moyvane at 7pm. Thursday adult class in Tarbert at 7.30pm, Friday Knocknagoshel at 6pm/7pm/8pm and Saturday in Moyvane at 10am.
Glin Mens Shed: is open to members and visitors on Mondays and Thursdays at St Paul’s Heritage Centre Glin from 7.30pm
