Community ūüó£Consultation for the Shannon Estuary Way

Tonight, Tuesday, 23 February, we have the 2nd Community Consultation for the Shannon Estuary Way loop drive off of the Wild Atlantic Way. This is a really great opportunity to hear more about what is happening to develop this as a new tourism product for West Limerick.

The Community Hall isn’t on google maps, but it is at the beginning of Main street, Pallaskenry, to the left. It is before the Garda station, and before the unnamed road turn off.

In June 2017 Fáilte Ireland launched the Shannon Estuary Way.    To date 10,000 copies of the map have been distributed to the visitor through  Hotels in Limerick and Clare, Tourist Office Networks and key attractions along the route.

The next phase of the development of the drive is an Interpretation Strategy and we have appointed Hogarth’s as our Consultants.     They have taken the imputs from the initial Community Consultation  (2017),    additional information received together with desk research and will present to you the recommendations in terms of stories for the identified  pull in areas that will help animate and enhance the area with a story that resonates with the area and the Estuary.

The work done to date has been in consultation with the Steering Committee and Failte Ireland to ensure that the themes and stories give the visitor a sense of where they are and what the Estuary represents.

To share this work Fáilte Ireland are holding  follow up Community Consultation meetings:

Tuesday 23rd January                      Pallaskenry Community Centre                  7-8.30 p.m.

West Limerick Resources is a community development organisation that works to achieve positive change in the lives of people and groups in West Limerick.
