Message from Bishop Leahy: Dear Sisters & Brothers, The Fourth National Collection for the World Meeting of Families is taking place this weekend. As you know, Pope Francis is coming to Ireland in August for it and his itinerary in Dublin and Knock was published this week. A Pope doesn’t come every day to a country so it’ll be a huge event with people coming from 104 countries and 600,000 attending the closing Mass in the Phoenix Park. An event such as this costs so I’m appealing to you to be as generous as you can in contributing to this Fourth National Collection. And a big thanks for your generosity so far. It is a huge help in organising what will be a really wonderful event in the life of the Church and wider society in Ireland.
Once more, thanks for your effort in all of this. The response from Limerick in terms of registration and volunteering has been very positive. I know parish groups and individuals are arranging to get to either/both the RDS and Phoenix Park. Others have registered for Croke Park. The general tickets for Knock and the Phoenix Park go on release on 25th June. We’ll also have approximately 10 tickets per parish for the Phoenix Park with one family at least per parish to get these tickets so that each parish is represented by a family.
Thank you: to all those who supported the clothing collection for our two Primary Schools on Friday.
Best of Luck: Emma O’Sullivan, Kilfergus, sets off to Cagliari, Sardinia this weekend to take part in the 10th European Transplant & Dialysis Sports Championships as a member of Transplant Team Ireland.
Emma, who hails from Ballyraggett, Co. Kilkenny, now lives in Glin with her husband John and son Ewan and has received two kidney transplants in her life.
Emma competes in Track and Field events and Shot Putt at the Games, which will be held from June 17th to 24th. Emma is part of the 24-strong team, competing against athletes from more than 25 countries, and she hopes to achieve great successes for her team and country as she has done in previous games. You can follow Emma and Transplant Team Ireland’s progress on and on FaceBook
We wish Emma, and all of Transplant Team Ireland, the best of luck!
