Community Games: The Community Games Committee wish to thank everyone who contributed to our recent church gate collection which amounted to €519.  We have 2 competitors in National competition next weekend in UL.  Miriam O Connor is competing in gymnastics and Harry FitzGerald in cross country running. We wish them both well.

St. Fergus National School Carpark/Set Down Area: As you may be aware, following lengthy “behind the scenes work” by the Parking Committee and the Board of Management of St. Fergus’ National School, construction has begun on the badly needed parking/set down area for the School.  We thank those members of our school and wider community who have put so much effort into getting this project off the ground.  Due to increasing pupil numbers and the traffic congestion this leads to, the Board of Management believe that this measure will help improve health and safety for pupils, staff, parents/guardians and the wider community, in particular at drop off and collection times.   Despite an appeal to the Department of Education & Skills, we have been unable to secure funding for this project from the Department.  Through CLÁR funding (€50,000) and an allocation from the General Maintenance Allocation Roads Project 2019 (€25,000) from Limerick City & County Council, we have received a total of €75,000.  The total cost of the project is approximately €145,000.   The balance of money needed has been secured through a parish loan.  This loan of €70,000 must be repaid to parish funds.  Monies repaid by August 2019 will be interest free.  Subsequent balance to be repaid will be subject to a 5% interest rate as specified by the Limerick Diocesan Office.  In an effort to reduce the loan balance of €70,000 and avoid paying large amounts of interest we are seeking the assistance of parishioners through a door to door collection. Thanking you for your continued support and generosity.
