Willow Hen Basket 10:00-5:30

In this all-day course we will be making a traditional frame basket with a ‘wild rose’ twist.These baskets are called Hen or ‘Bum’ Baskets, they are always a joy to make, and with many versatile uses–through harvesting baskets, vessels for fruit and veg, hanging storage baskets…the options feel endless!In this course, I  prepare a range of colourful homegrown willow to allow us to play around with designs and appreciate the expressive ways of our heritage varieties of willow. Everyone leaves the day with their very own basket and a set of traditional techniques!Tuition includes materials fee and tools

Sunday Willow Platter 1:30-5:00

Join us for an afternoon learning how to make willow ‘tension trays’ or platters. This class is a great introduction to willow basketry, allowing one to get a feel for the material in a half day class. We will get the chance to play around with the natural colours of the willow and learn some basic traditional techniques. These trays are very attractive and functional, a beautiful sight with bread on the kitchen table or a precious handmade gift for the holidays approaching!
Tuition includes materials fee and tools
