Thank You: Many thanks to those who contributed so generously to the Concern Church Gate Collections which were held on 14th & 15th December.  The amount raised in Glin was €610.  Thanks also to all those who helped with the collections.

Happy Christmas to all: “It’s Christmas, It’s Christmas, each merry bell chimes.  A time for remembering old friends and old times. A time for warm greetings, old ties to renew, and a time for good wishes; for good folks like you. Merry Christmas to all”. Thanks to everyone that reads the Glin notes each week in the Observer & Leader! Have a safe and peaceful Christmas everyone.

Christmas Morning Swim: Don’t forget the Christmas morning dip!! Be at the pier for 7.50am, photograph at 7.55am, followed by swim at 8am. What a great way to start your Christmas Day, looking forward to meeting you.

Glin Rovers Soccer Club: A fundraising event for Pieta House being led by Shane Culhane is being organised for St. Stephens Day.  Glin Rovers Golden Oldies will take on a current Glin Rovers XI to do battle for bragging rights over the Christmas.  The game will take place in Corbry Estate on St. Stephens Day with a kick off time of 11.00 a.m.  At half time of the match, a plaque in honour of a Glin Rovers founding member James Doore will be unveiled by the club in order of this passing in late 2018.  After the match, all are invited to complimentary refreshments by the Geoghegan family at the Magpie Bar.  Bucket collections and raffle tickets will be found at the field that day and can be found later that evening in Barretts Bar where the raffle will take place that night.  There are some fantastic prizes on offer that have been generously offered to the club.  We hope to have many as possible at the event and bring friends and family to this great cause in order to make as much as we can for this great charity.

Cailin Bán: The highly successful Cailin Bán staring Dominic West that took place at Glin Castle a few months ago, is now available to purchase on DVD.  You can now relive that night as DVDs are on sale in local Glin shops.  It includes incredible aerial views of Glin. The cost is €15 and would make a lovely Christmas gift. All proceeds from sale will go towards the new Interpretive Centre coming in 2020.

Christmas Greeting from Fr. Crawford: It is my privilege to send a Christmas Greeting and a New Year Blessing to  all the Homes and people of the Parish, as we celebrate the birth of Christ and  look forward  with hope and confidence  to the year ahead.                                                                                                                                                     I congratulate the families who celebrated Baptisms,  and  the young couples who got married. I offer my sympathy to those families who suffered bereavement in the past year. I have enjoyed sharing in your joyful family events , Celebrating Mass for your various intentions, and at your service in all your  spiritual  needs. I sincerely  thank  you for your generous support to me personally and to the Church in 2019.  To all who are involved in the various ministries of Word & Sacrament, to all involved in the administration of the Parish and all who help create a friendly and caring community, I say a big thank you . I congratulate our two Schools, their Teachers and all Staff members, The Boards of Management , the Parents and Children. There were some great school events during the past year and lovely moments to celebrate and remember.  The completion of the set-down parking area was a major achievement.  We look forward to 2020 and the celebration of the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion.   I would like to  congratulate, bless, and encourage the work of all the Organizations in the Parish. You have organized many enjoyable events and  welcomed lots of visitors to Glin . The highlight for me was the Colleen Bawn.  Ni neart go cur le cheile (our strength lies in unity)

The Diocesan website( http://www.limerickdiocese.org) also the Glin .info page will help you to keep up with developments and news.

I offer you the “Gospel Tree” for your reflection.

The Christmas Tree is a fitting image to prepare for the year ahead . You are the branches and the lights to help us face the many challenges . The Priests and people of our new Pastoral Unit will be working together to map out an uncertain future .Team Ministry and active involvement of Parishioners are key to the success of this new Pastoral Plan.  The box of envelopes, delivered to your home is an invitation to continue your support for the work and upkeep of your local Church. You have been very generous and I thank you for your continued financial support. The envelopes allow me to record your contributions , be fully accountable for your donations and to claim back tax where possible.

I wish you every Blessing in the coming year. Fr. T. Crawford
