COVID-19 GLIN HELPERS: Approx 35 members of Glin Community have come forward to offer help and assistance to the elderly, those with underlying conditions and the vulnerable in this difficult time.  If you need groceries from the shops, your prescription picked up or dropped off etc, then please request our help.  The list of ‘Helpers’ will be available from Glin Post Office this week.  PLEASE ASK FOR THIS LIST.  Everyone in the list, is there to help you. THIS IS A VOLUNTARY SERVICE AND FOR THOSE THAT GENUINELY NEED HELP. Every member of the group want to help you but also protect you from the COVID-19 virus.  With this in mind we will: Wear protective gloves, we will NOT enter your home, We will keep our distance – We want to keep you safe. Virtual Pilgrimages from Knock Shrine: Pilgrimages Masses are streamed live each Sunday at www.knockshrine, commencing with Rosary at 2.30 p.m. and Mass at 3.00 p.m.  Light a candle, place a petition or remember a loved one with a Mass Card.  See www.knockshrine.ie for more details of upcoming online pilgrimages and online services.

Glin Garda Station: If you feel unsafe or need help please contact Garda Billy McElligot 068 34100. 

Glin Pier: Life guards will be on duty from July 1st. for the duration of the summer. Once again a huge thanks to Limerick County Council for providing such a valuable service. Please be careful when swimming. The suns out, spirits are high but be aware of the danagers of the water. Stay safe.

Glin Market: Gourmet food during the lockdown! Quail eggs for breakfast, crabmeat for lunch, black sole for dinner, followed by beautiful strawberries! All from our local Friday market on the square!

Glin Community Alert & Glin TEXT Alert explained: Any member of the public, should they see suspicious activity, that they feel needs to be reported to the guards – to make people in the Glin community aware, should ring the number on the sign 069 20650.  This will put you through to Newcastle West Garda Station. The garda station will determine if the received phone call should be sent to the members of the Glin TEXT Alert system.  If you want to be part of the Glin Text Alert & wish to receive such text messages from the Newcastle West Garda station, please contact Eddie O’Connor 086 168 1691 or local Garda Billy McElligott, at Glin Garda Station who will sign you up.  This is a YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION and costs €10 per year PER phone
