The following is the schedule for the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Glin.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: Morning Mass at 10.00 a.m.

Saturdays: Evening Mass at 7.00 p.m.

Sundays: Morning Mass at 11.00 a.m.

St. Fergus National School: Enrolment Forms for the school year 2022/2023 are now available from the school office.  Please telephone 068-34344.  Places available also in our ASD Class.

A GoFundMe page: has been set up by Glin Community News to help raise money to give to Glin Development, towards the repair of the damage carried out in the Park recently. Collection boxes are also placed in shops and pubs in Glin.  Small envelopes will be available in McNamaras and Hogan’s Shop if you would like to place your name on the donation. Your support is greatly appreciated. 

Glin Homes for the Elderly Ltd Committee: members gathered at the Glin Day Care Centre to make a presentation to all the Day Care Centre Staff for Christmas. A Christmas gift and bonus was presented to each staff member. John Anthony Culhane thanked all the staff for their invaluable work throughout the year and expressed how important the Meals on Wheels service is to many of the elderly within the Community. Further to this he added that during the difficult times of Covid 19 it is appreciated that the Front line staff of Cloverfield have continued to ensure the Centre continues to provide Meals to our residents and Meals on Wheels to the elderly in our communities. The committee wish all the staff in Cloverfield Day Care Centre good health for the coming year of 2022.

Glin Heritage Trails: An Audit was carried out in October last by Sport Ireland on the Glin Heritage Trails. Glin Development are delighted to announce that the trails got a high recommendation from Sport Ireland. Glin Development would like to thank all those who volunteer to keep the walks in tip top condition, and acknowledge the work and commitment put in by all.  ‘Glin Heritage Trails…. an unforgettable experience’.

Congratulations: to our local winger Karl O’Sullivan, who has signed a two-year contract with Sligo Rovers. 22 year-old Karl makes his move from Finn Harps and has made over 100 club appearances between Harps and his former club Limerick FC. Best of luck Karl, we are all routing for you.

Congratulations: to local Glin Historian Tom Donovan and Listowel man Vincent Carmody on their very successful launch of – ‘Limerick: Snapshots of the Treaty City and County 1840-1960, available in all good bookshops.

Retirement: Congratulations to husband and wife duo Ambrose and Noelle Lanigan, who enjoyed their last day of work on December 23rd.  After 18 years in Adams Shop you are missed by the locals and those that stopped in daily. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement.

Congratulations: to the following parents: Kayleigh Blackstock and Evan Geoghegan welcomed daughter Enya, Iosla and Alan Murray welcomed Sadie, Rachael O Connell and Padraig Horan welcomed Bonnie-Mai and finally Annette Brassil and James Hanlon welcomed their little girl.  Congratulations to all. 

Engagement: Congratulations to Sharon Lewis and Gary Culhane who recently got engaged over Christmas. Happy wedding planning.

Glin Development Association: meeting will be held in Conways on Thursday next the 13th January at 8:30 p.m.  Please adhere to HSE Covid 19 guidelines.

GB Rovers: we are looking for any club member or family from the club that would like to do a referees course. Three beginner courses will take place in January on the dates indicated: Monday 10th – Tuesday 11th January from 7 – 9pm, Monday 17th– Tuesday 18th January from 7 – 9pm and Monday 24th – Tuesday 25th January from 7 – 9pm. Anyone interested please contact 087 3192449 and the club will pay for the course.

Glin Emmets: are still looking to recruit coach’s for their upcoming U6 team starting in 2022. For the 2022 season, they will have the following teams: U6, U8, U10 & U12s. If you are interested in helping out with any of the teams, please contact their Facebook page and send a private message.
