Friday 21st October: Mass for Paddy Stack, late of Stacks Pharmacy, who died during the week in Utah, USA.

Catherine Mary Hogan: A poignant ceremony of the passing of Catherine Mary Hogan has held Sunday evening last outside John Sheahan Hardware store. A beautiful plaque was unveiled to commemorate the centenary of the death of Catherine Mary Hogan, who was caught in crossfire in Glin Square during the Civil War on October 7th. She died two days later on October 9th, 1922, on the eve of her 14th birthday. Many thanks to Tom Donovan, Glin Historical Society for organising and to Catherine ‘Babe’ Hogan’s family for traveling to Glin from Cork.

The Knights of Glin Visitor Centre: Free to the public and open every day from 10am to 5pm beside Glin Library on Lower Main Street Glin. At the newly opened interpretive centre, you can read, watch and hear the 800-year-old story of the Knights of Glin. It’s a lovely way to spend an hour or two, so please make sure to stop in.  

Clothing Collection: for St. Fergus National School on the 14th November.  Please keep any unwanted clothing, footwear for this collection.  The GAA Clubhouse will be open from 9am to 12 and 2pm to 3:30pm on Wednesday 19th October, Wednesday 2nd November and Wednesday 9th November to facilitate drop off of bags.  Thanks to the GAA for their help with our collection.

Glin Baby & Toddler group is a wonderful local community meet up where parents can socialise and bring their toddlers and babies along. As we all know parenting isn’t always smooth sailing and sometimes a chat with someone who understands over a cuppa while your small ones play can make a big difference. This Halloween Glin baby & toddler group are dusting off their witch hats & doing a tot toddle witch walk on Friday Oct 28th to raise funds for the group. The goal of 300 euro will go towards covering the cost of insurance & the hall for the year. We appreciate all donations and a big thank you for your support!   https://gofund.me/68b8716f

Whist Drive: The Whist Drive will be on every Tuesday night at Cloverfield Day Centre at 8pm. All welcome

Glin Tidy Towns: October is Ireland National #ReuseMonth when people are asked to make more sustainable choices and really think about the value of our stuff and the impact our consumption patterns have on our ocean and planet. If you can’t refuse, reduce, reuse it, repair it, then…learn how to recycle it correctly.

St. Fergus National School: is hosting a Cookery Demonstration with Celebrity Chef Kevin Dundon on Thursday 24th November in Ceol Corbrai Community Hall – a date for your diary, not to be missed.  Tickets available from Tuesday next from the school and local shops, and are priced at €25.

Glin GAA Nursery: Saturday morning nursery for ‘Junior Infant All Stars’ continues on Saturday mornings in the training field at 10.30am Everyone is welcome  

GB Rovers FC: A Two-Day Halloween Camp will take place on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th November with Dynamic Coaching at BallyRovers pitch. Times and payment info to follow nearer the time. All children attending Junior Infants and up are welcome

Abha Bhán Drama Group: The Abha Bhán Players have set dates for their production “The Buds Of Ballybunion”. So reserve November 18, 19, 25 and 26 for it to be staged in Ballyhahill Hall. Hopefully there will be more dates and venues in 2023. It promises to be a fun night. The play, written by John B Keane, is set in Ballybunion and revolves around the Buds who used to spend 2 weeks in Ballybunion every September back in the 50’s. It has lots of humour and you will really enjoy it.

Deel Animal Rescue: are absolutely desperate for foster homes at the moment for both cats and dogs. They cannot continue helping abandoned animals with the number they currently have. Please Text Martina on 087-9418477 for info
