Heritage Trails

The Knight’s walk is one of three walks that make up the Glin Castle Demesne Heritage Trails. This trail can be undertaken as one long walk or three separate walks.

This walk runs from St Paul’s Heritage Centre, opposite the Catholic Church, to the highest point of the Glin Demesne, where a raised platform provides a panoramic view. It includes a variety of terrain from woodland to farmland and is waymarked with green signs on timber posts.

There are two key viewing points along the trails each equipped with binoculars and map explaining the rich natural, built and cultural views on offer. The first is at sea level and offers views east and west of Glin on the estuary. The second is at a height of 130 metres and offers panoramic views from Galway Bay to Ballybunion Beach and Golf Links Course, through to Knockpatrick and beyond.
