Word of Thanks – Corpus Christi Procession, Glin:  The Shannon West Pastoral Unit extends sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the Corpus Christi celebration in Glin this Sunday.  It was wonderful to see so many parishioners from across the Unit gather together in faith and prayer for this beautiful celebration of the Eucharist. A special word of thanks is due to the First Holy Communion children and Confirmation children whose presence added greatly to the dignity and joy of the occasion. We were delighted to see so many young people taking part in this important expression of our faith.  We are grateful to the children who brought wild flowers and posies to adorn the Corpus Christi altar, to the choir and musicians who enhanced the liturgy and procession, and to all who helped with the organisation of the event, the preparation of the altar, stewarding (Glin Men’s Shed) and the many practical arrangements behind the scenes.  A special thanks also to the residents and businesses who helped create a welcoming atmosphere along the route.  We were particularly blessed with favourable weather, which remained kind to us throughout the procession and allowed the celebration to take place as planned.  May the success of this year’s Corpus Christi celebration encourage us to continue this cherished tradition in the years ahead. Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to making it such a prayerful, reverent and memorable occasion.

Residents and businesses are also encouraged to keep the areas outside their properties clean and weed-free.

Dog owners are asked to clean up after their pets, and all are encouraged to respect shared spaces such as the Town Park and Pier.

Glin Heritage Walking Trails have been awarded €10k from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht. This funding has been secured through collaboration with Glin Development and Ballyhoura Development. This is fantastic news.  This funding will allow us to continue improvements on the Glin Knights Walking trail, re-surfacing and enhancements. The funding is designed to ensure the trail is maintained to a high standard benefitted local communities and visitors alike. Making the announcement, Minister Calleary said: “Walking in Ireland’s beautiful countryside has wide-ranging benefits for the walker and local communities. There are a wide variety of trails across the country, from coastal trails to forest and mountain walks, making it easier for walkers to be immersed in nature
