Thank you: to all who contributed to the ‘Christmas Lighting’ Collection Boxes that were placed in shops and businesses throughout Glin. The sum of €220 was raised.
Glin Tidy Towns: out on Saturday mornings from 11 to 12 noon. Thanks to all the weekly volunteers.
Coffee Morning: Sunday 11th February at 12 noon in Barretts Bar. Help our girls raise funds for the Vixens Basketball Tournament in Barcelona this Easter.
Glin Library: is the place to be over the coming weeks with lots of community activity for all: First up, is the Craft Group. This group meets *fortnightly* (1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month) with the next session starting at 10.30am on Wednesday 17th January. The classes aim to be fun, calming and relaxing and is open to all ages and abilities. The group provides a great way to meet new friends and have some fun. If this sounds right for you – please come along. Class is Free. Next is the Community Singing Group: This newly formed group has grown in numbers and sees them return to the Library, every Tuesday morning from 11.30am *(note time change), starting on Tuesday 30th. Singing is great for the soul and has lots of benefits; boosts happiness, you make friends, improves ones sense of community, releases endorphins, strengthens the immune system and helps you to relax. With so many benefits, you’d be mad not to come along. All welcome. Contribution box in place. Facilitated by Bernie Hayes, Askeaton/Ballysteen. And finally, The Book Group. This fantastic group meets monthly on the last Wednesday & Thursday of the month. (January dates 24th & 25th) You do not need to be an avid reader to enjoy these classes. Come along and enjoy the company, sharpen your memory and cognitive skills, hear new perspectives and it’s a great way to meet new people all while enjoying a cup of tea. All welcome. Class is Free. All events take place in Glin Library & everyone is welcome. A special word of ‘Thanks’ to our Librarian Deirdre who has a welcome for everyone & has encouraged all these events.
Roadworks Notice: N69 Foynes to Ferry Bridge: Monday, 22nd January 2024 to Friday, 1st March 2024 for Drainage Maintenance. Works located between the R521 Shanagolden Junction and the Ferry Bridge on the N69 8:00pm and 5:00am will be ongoing during these times. A semi static stop and go traffic management operation will be in place for the duration of the works.
Last Man Standing is back: Glin Rovers Last Man Standing is Starting again for Game week 21 on the 13th of January. Adult Social Dance Classes: in Tarbert Community Centre Starting Thursday 25th January 7pm till 9pm. All levels of Dancers, no partner needed, €8 per person. Refreshments included. Goldilocks & the Three Bears: Bus will depart from the bus stop opposite the Longcourt House Hotel on Sunday 28th January, 2024 at 12 noon sharp, followed by a pick up in Abbeyfeale at 12.15pm at the bus stop outside the church. We will be stopping enroute for a cuppa and scone before going into the Panto matinee at 3pm. Tickets are adults, group booking €15 and €10 for children there is no booking fee. On the homeward journey we will call to the River Island Hotel for dinner – there will be a special menu and rate for children’s meals. Going to print we have a few seats available. Lifeguard Vacancies: Are you interested in working as a Beach Lifeguard?
Clare, Fingal and Limerick are currently looking for lifeguards for the 2024 period.
