Glin GAA U16s through to the County Final: Last Saturday, Glin’s U16s faced Ahane in the county semi-final under brutal conditions, with heavy rain and wind making the game a real battle. Killian Sheehan and Tomás Lyons were sidelined due to injuries, while Kealan Lonergan, also carrying an injury, was togged out but didn’t start, ready to step in if needed. Despite playing into torrential rain and wind in the first half, Glin led at half-time with a score of 1-6 to 5 points. Ahane came out strong in the second half, briefly taking the lead by a point. This sparked Glin into action, and with some excellent scores, they regained control, extending their lead to five points. However, Ahane fought back with a well-taken goal, reducing the gap to just two points. But Glin’s resilience shone through in the closing minutes as they held on to secure a 2-9 to 2-7 victory. Key players included Luke Costello at corner-back, Sheagh Mulvihill also in corner-back, and Sean Maher at wing-forward, with his brother Fergus coming on as a sub. With this win, the team is now through to the U16 County Final, scheduled for this Saturday 19th October against Oola at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale at 11.45am.

A big thank you goes out to Rosemary and all the staff at Glin Cloverfield for providing the delicious food free of charge. Appreciation also goes to Maureen and John for the use of the pub—it was even a first to have a dog present at the meeting! Special thanks to May and Maureen for the scones and queen cakes, and to Susan O’Sullivan for her help. Lastly, a huge thank you to the talented musicians, singers, and dancers who entertained everyone. We look forward to seeing everyone again next month
