Library Update: A fantastic crowd gathered at the Library on Tuesday 21st February to address concerns about the reduced opening hours implemented since January. Local Councillor John Sheahan and Noreen O’Neill, Senior Executive Librarian for City and County, were in attendance to discuss the situation. They explained that the reduced hours are a temporary measure and assured attendees that all scheduled events will proceed as planned. Once a new librarian is appointed, Glin Library will return to its full schedule of four days a week, from Tuesday to Friday. The recruitment process may take some time, as the position will first be offered to the Library Panel. If no candidate is available, external recruitment will follow. Councillor Sheahan pledged to monitor the progress closely. With 400 members, 4,000 books loaned out in 2024, and 6,000 visits recorded, Glin Library remains a vital community resource. It is essential to continue supporting and using this wonderful facility. Thank you to everyone that attended, it was wonderful to see the library so full.
